YORI — Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of the YORI mobile application ("YORI", the "App") provided by Tether Technologies Pty Ltd, an Australian company ("Tether", "we", "us", "our").

By downloading, accessing or using YORI, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

YORI is currently available for iOS devices and is intended for users in Japan, although it may be accessible from other locations.

1. What YORI does

YORI is a mobile app that lets users scan food product barcodes to view:

  • Nutrition information
  • Ingredient lists
  • A wellness score (0–100)
  • Suggested alternative products

Some features, including YORI AI recommendations and "Hot products", are available only to paying subscribers.

The information and recommendations in YORI are general in nature, and are intended to help you better understand products. They are not a substitute for professional advice, your own judgment, or reading product labels.

2. No medical or professional advice

YORI does not provide medical, nutritional, or professional health advice.

  • Any recommendations, scores, opinions, or suggestions in the App (including those generated by YORI AI) are for general information only.
  • They should not be relied on as medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
  • We do not tailor YORI's content to your individual medical history, diet, allergies, or health condition.

You should always:

  • Consult a doctor, dietitian, or qualified health professional before making changes to your diet, lifestyle, or treatment plan.
  • Read the packaging, ingredient list, and allergen information on the actual product.
  • Do your own research before trying a new calorie plan, nutrient plan, or diet.

Never ignore or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you see in YORI.

3. Health, allergy and risk warnings

Because of the nature of nutrition and health information, there are important limitations and risks:

  • Allergies and intolerances: YORI may not list all allergens, traces, or cross-contamination risks. Product recipes, manufacturing processes, and labels can change. Always rely on the information printed on the product and your doctor's advice.
  • Medical conditions: If you have any condition such as diabetes, coeliac disease, kidney disease, heart disease, an eating disorder, or any other medical condition, you must follow the advice of your healthcare professional.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Nutritional needs change in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always consult a healthcare professional before changing your diet.
  • No outcome guarantees: We do not promise or guarantee any specific outcome, such as weight loss, improved blood sugar, better lab results, or any particular health improvement.

You use YORI, and act on any information in it, at your own risk.

4. Data sources and accuracy

YORI uses food and nutrition data from Open Food Facts and other sources (together, "Data Sources"). Open Food Facts is a collaborative, user-contributed database. YORI may also allow users to add basic product information where no data currently exists.

Because of this:

  • Information may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.
  • The same product may have different recipes in different countries or may change over time.
  • We do not control all data in the App and cannot guarantee it is correct, complete, or up to date.
  • YORI does not replace reading the actual label and packaging.

We may update, correct, or remove data at any time, but we are not obliged to do so.

5. User accounts and login

To use YORI, you must create an account and sign in. You may sign in using:

  • Apple authentication
  • Google authentication

As part of your account, we may collect information such as your:

  • Email address
  • Display name

By creating an account, you agree:

  • To provide accurate and up-to-date information.
  • To keep your login details secure and not share them with anyone else.
  • That you are allowed to use the App under the laws of your country (for example, if you are a minor, that you have appropriate consent from a parent or guardian).

YORI is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children.

6. User-contributed product information

In some cases, YORI may allow you to add basic product information (for example, when a scanned product does not yet exist in the database). You cannot add nutritional data through the App.

By adding product information, you confirm that:

  • The information you submit is true, accurate, and not misleading to the best of your knowledge.
  • You have the right to submit the information.

We may, at our discretion, modify, hide, or remove any user-submitted product information, including if we believe it is:

  • False or misleading
  • Offensive or inappropriate
  • Illegal or violating the rights of others
  • Spam or abusive

You must not use YORI to intentionally submit false, misleading, or harmful data.

7. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use YORI in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or misleading.
  • Upload or submit false or deceptive product information.
  • Try to damage, interfere with, or disrupt the App or its servers.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or copy YORI's code, except where this is allowed by law.
  • Use YORI for any commercial analysis or service that competes with us, unless we give you written permission.

We may investigate and take any action we consider appropriate if we suspect misuse.

8. Subscriptions, payments and free trial

YORI uses a freemium model. Some features are available for free. Premium features, including YORI AI and Hot products, are available by subscription.

Subscriptions:

  • Are offered on a monthly or yearly basis.
  • Are billed through the Apple App Store using your Apple ID.
  • May be offered with a 7-day free trial, as displayed in the App or App Store.

Managing your subscription

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID account settings. You must cancel your subscription through Apple at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged.

We do not manage subscription billing directly and cannot cancel your subscription for you.

Refunds

Refunds are handled under Apple's App Store policies, not by us directly. If you believe you are entitled to a refund, you must contact Apple or follow their process.

We may change the price of subscriptions, the features included, or the availability of certain plans. If we do, we will let you know by updating the information in the App and/or notifying you as required by Apple and applicable law.

9. Third-party services

YORI uses third-party services such as:

  • Firebase
  • Apple authentication
  • Google authentication
  • Open Food Facts API
  • Other similar infrastructure, analytics, or data services that support the App

These services have their own terms and privacy policies, which apply in addition to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

We do not control and are not responsible for:

  • The availability or performance of third-party services
  • Any act or omission of those third parties
  • Changes they make to their platforms, APIs, or terms

Your use of those services is at your own risk.

10. Privacy

Your use of YORI is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

By using YORI, you agree that we may process your personal data in accordance with that Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to the App and to these Terms

We may update YORI from time to time, including by adding, changing, or removing features, fixing bugs or improving performance, or changing how we access or display product data.

We may also update these Terms when needed. If we make changes that materially affect you, we will:

  • Notify you by email and/or
  • Show an in-app notice or confirmation

If you continue to use YORI after the updated Terms take effect, you will be deemed to have accepted the changes. If you do not agree to the new Terms, you should stop using the App and, if applicable, cancel your subscription through Apple.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to YORI (including your account) if:

  • You seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms
  • You misuse the App, including by submitting false or harmful product data
  • We are required to do so by law or by a third-party service provider (for example, Apple)

Where reasonable, we will try to give you notice, but we are not required to do so in urgent situations, such as to protect the App or other users.

You may stop using YORI at any time. To stop future subscription charges, you must cancel your subscription via your Apple ID settings.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

YORI is provided "as is" and "as available".

Without limiting any mandatory legal rights you have under applicable law, we do not make any promises or guarantees that:

  • The App will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free
  • The information in the App is complete, accurate, or suitable for your particular needs
  • The scores, recommendations, or suggestions will lead to any particular health, nutrition, or lifestyle outcome

To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, representations, and conditions that are not expressly stated in these Terms.

14. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, such as certain consumer rights.

Subject to that, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that you may suffer as a result of:

  • Relying on information or recommendations from YORI (including YORI AI)
  • Any inaccuracy or incompleteness in product data or nutrition data
  • Any change in product labels, recipes, or manufacturing
  • Your failure to read or follow product packaging, labels, or professional advice
  • Any decision you make about your diet, health, or lifestyle based on YORI
  • Any temporary or permanent unavailability of the App

We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, loss of data, or business interruption.

To the extent we are liable and that liability can be limited under applicable law, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or in connection with the App and these Terms will be limited to the higher of:

  • The amount you have paid for YORI's premium features in the three months immediately before the event giving rise to the claim; or
  • If you only use the free version, AUD 0 (zero).

This limitation applies to us and to our directors, officers, employees, contractors, and developers.

You are responsible for your own use of the App and for any actions you take based on the information you see in YORI.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, except where the laws of your country of residence provide you with mandatory protections that cannot be excluded. In that case, those protections still apply.

If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, any legal proceedings relating to these Terms or your use of YORI must be brought in the courts of Western Australia, Australia, unless applicable law requires a different court.

16. Language and translations

These Terms may be provided in multiple languages. If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the English version and a translation, the English version will prevail.
