YORI — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Tether Technologies Pty Ltd("Tether", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, discloses and protects your information when you use the YORI mobile application ("YORI", the "App").
By downloading, accessing or using YORI, you agree that we may handle your information in the ways described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
YORI is currently available for iOS devices and is intended for users in Japan, although it may be accessible from other locations.

3. Information we collect
We collect information in three main ways: information you provide to us, information collected automatically when you use YORI, and information we receive from third parties.
3.1 Information you provide
- Account details: When you create an account or sign in using Apple or Google, we may receive and store information such as your email address, display name and authentication identifiers provided by Apple or Google.
- Product contributions: When you add basic product information (for example, when a scanned product does not yet exist in the database), we store the information you submit.
- Support and communications: If you contact us by email or through other channels, we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address and the content of your message).
3.2 Information collected automatically
When you use YORI, certain information is collected automatically, including through third-party services such as Firebase.
- Device information: For example, device model, operating system, language, and app version.
- Usage information: For example, the features you use in the App, screens you view, taps and interactions, and the time and date of your activity.
- Log and diagnostic data: For example, crash reports, performance data and error logs, to help us maintain stability and improve the App.
- Scan activity: For example, barcodes you scan, products you view, and interactions with YORI AI recommendations and "Hot products".
3.3 Information from third parties
- Apple and Google: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive basic account information from those providers, such as your email address and a unique identifier, as permitted by their settings and your choices.
- Payment providers (Apple App Store): When you purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store, Apple processes your payment information. We receive information about your subscription status (for example, whether your subscription is active, the type of subscription and renewal dates), but we do not receive your full payment card details.
- Product data sources: We query third-party product databases such as Open Food Facts to retrieve nutrition and ingredient information based on barcodes, but we do not provide your personal identifying information to those databases.
4. How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To operate and provide the App: For example, to create and manage your account, authenticate you, show product and nutrition information, provide YORI AI recommendations and "Hot products", and respond to your requests.
- To maintain and improve YORI: For example, to understand how users interact with the App, fix bugs, improve performance, and plan new features and enhancements.
- To ensure safety and prevent misuse: For example, to detect and address misuse, fraud, or attempts to disrupt the App, and to enforce our Terms of Service.
- To communicate with you: For example, to send important notices about changes to YORI, updates to our Terms or this Privacy Policy, and replies to your support requests.
- To comply with legal obligations: For example, to respond to lawful requests from authorities or to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
5. Legal bases (where applicable)
Depending on where you live, privacy laws may require us to explain the legal bases we rely on to use your personal information. In general, we rely on the following:
- Performance of a contract: To provide you with YORI in accordance with our Terms of Service.
- Legitimate interests: To maintain and improve YORI, ensure security, prevent misuse, and understand how the App is used, in a way that does not override your privacy rights.
- Compliance with legal obligations: Where we need to comply with laws or respond to lawful requests.
- Consent: In cases where applicable law requires your consent for certain processing, we will rely on your consent and you may withdraw it at any time via device or account settings where relevant.
6. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We share information with trusted service providers that help us operate YORI, such as Firebase, hosting providers, analytics tools and other technical infrastructure and support services. These providers may process your information only on our instructions and are required to protect it.
- Authentication and payment platforms: When you log in with Apple or Google, or purchase a subscription through the Apple App Store, those services handle your login and payment processes, and share limited information back to us as described above.
- Legal and safety purposes: We may share information if we believe it is reasonably necessary to comply with a law, regulation or legal request; to protect the rights, property or safety of Tether, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent or address fraud or security issues.
- Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
7. International transfers
Tether Technologies Pty Ltd is based in Australia, and our service providers (including Firebase, Apple and Google) may process information in multiple countries. This means your information may be stored and processed outside of the country where you live, including in Australia and other regions.
We take reasonable steps to ensure that any international transfers are carried out in accordance with applicable data protection laws and that your information remains protected.
8. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide YORI, fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and comply with legal obligations.
- Account-related information is generally kept while your account remains active. If you delete your account, we will take steps to delete or anonymise personal information that we no longer need, subject to legal or legitimate business requirements.
- Log data, analytics data and backup copies may be retained for a limited period after account deletion, for security, fraud prevention, and backup integrity.
9. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have some or all of the following rights in relation to your personal information:
- Access: You may request a copy of personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: You may ask us to delete your personal information, for example if it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, subject to legal requirements.
- Objection or restriction: You may object to or request that we limit certain processing, in particular where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Withdrawal of consent: Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time (for example, via device settings or by contacting us), which will not affect processing that has already happened.

You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in the country where you live or work. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns first, so we encourage you to contact us directly.
10. Third-party services
YORI relies on third-party services such as Firebase, Apple and Google authentication, the Apple App Store, and data sources such as Open Food Facts.
These services have their own privacy policies and terms, which govern how they handle your information. We encourage you to review those policies directly:
- Apple (including Apple ID, App Store and Sign in with Apple)
- Google (including Google Sign-In)
- Firebase services used within YORI
- Other service providers we may use from time to time
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties, but we do take care to work only with providers that we consider reputable and appropriate for YORI.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information. These measures include industry-standard security practices, encrypted communication channels (for example, HTTPS) and access controls.
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use YORI at your own risk. You are responsible for keeping your device secure and your login details confidential.
12. Children
YORI is intended for a general audience and is not specifically directed at children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child in a way that is not permitted by law, we will take steps to delete that information.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we introduce new features or when laws change.
If we make changes that materially affect you, we will notify you by reasonable means, such as by showing an in-app notice and/or sending an email to the address associated with your account. The updated Privacy Policy will be effective when it is posted in the App, unless otherwise stated.
If you continue to use YORI after the updated Privacy Policy takes effect, you will be deemed to have accepted the changes. If you do not agree, you should stop using the App.
